No School? Boo! What kind of a parent are you?

The Alarm Goes off! and its 12 P.M... time to start the day! By the way, I am W.Azam and i am 15 years old turning 16 in the third of next month (3/8/09). One more thing this is a weekday! And the thing is that i dont have school. In Bangladesh, most people think that its really cool to go do school privately. My O'levels are next year and my mom had the best idea, as did other mother, to leave school and do classes at 5 in the afternoon when we should we having fun outside with our friends *gives a thumbs up with a big bright smile* yeah good job mom! Way to ruin my Weekdays.

And yes this style of studying or 'private' as they call it, a term adopted by mothers and some teachers, also includes Fridays and Saturdays too! If people who are unaware of the fact, then I must inform you that Friday is a substitute for Sunday in Bangladesh. And the even odder part. Classes in weekdays are usually in the afternoon, right at the time when school ends. Reason may be because most 'private' O Level teachers are usually school teachers too and also because many students who go to these classes also go to school too. And the classes on weekends, are usually in the mornings! So this is basically a reverse life compared to normal school-goers, the only difference? Is that most of them can get to have fun after schoolhours!

Don't get me wrong here, some of the classes are fun to do because you get to do them with your friends and chat with them a bit and stuff like that but at the end of the day when you come home and your all tired and you feel like school just ended *even though your not in school* and you get this sudden urge to go out and chill with your friends out in the mall or just go to the pitch and play some football or basketball in the gym with some of the homies. Then you realise.

It's Dark as hell outside!.... The Day is Done. You have wasted your daylight hours by studying something that normally you should be doing in the morning at SCHOOL!

Aww well atleast you can chill out at your room all night and turn on the computer and chat with some friends on the net all night, sure you can, you don't have to wake up early at school tomorrow. Well your wrong! Your mom will come up to you and ask you what you studied today, dont worry newly made 'privateers' who think that their moms wouldnt ask u that, its a second habit for parent's to grow awareness of their children's education after they aren't in school and in some classrooms in various schools after 4 o' clock doing classes. And soon after talking, she will kindly ask you to study what you learned again :)

This is the scenario of the situation *way of approach may be different in your case*

Mother : can you just look through everything that you studied today my child ?

You : mom i just came from class, and its 9 p.m! I'm kinda tired can i do it tomorrow mom ?

Mother : no you can not dear. You have to do it now, you wake up 2 hours before classes anyway

You : mom please ? Only tonight, you are so wonderful mother

Mother : I ASKED YOU KINDLY BEFORE AND NOT ANYMORE YOU NEED TO GET ALL "A's" IN YOUR O LEVELS, YOU NEED TO BECOME A DOCTOR OR AN ENGINEER!! OR BOTH IF U CAN AND YOU HAVE TO SHUT THE **** UP AND GET YOUR *** DOWN TO THE STUDY ROOM AND START STUDYING!!!!!!!!!

You : ...........

You then either stay really angry and just go study or face the wrath and sheer onslaught of MOTHER!

So basically what happens to a 'privateer' the following things is to be expected :

1# You wake up at 12 a.m. This may not happen immediately but it will grow on you

2# By the time you brush your teeth and have your brunch or lunch, ignoring breakfast because you missed it by sleeping late, It's time for you to go to classes. Which feels completely like School but at a very inconvinient time.

3# You have a rather good time at classes as i should say that 'private' teachers care less about the commotion caused in classes, so that means that you can talk to your friends and stuff, even go on the net with your cellphone if your bored.

4# You go home knowing that you can't do anything like going to the mall or going to a friend's house or play sports because its 9 P.M!!!

5# Your MOTHER come up to you and begs you to study. If you don't you will be scolded at or be told that you have no future and that you are just like your father *note your father will do the opposite and say that you are like your mother*

6# If your lucky like me and being able to post a blog at 2:30 A.M. You will spend the rest of the night on the computer with the internet at hand and chat with all the other sad people who live the same lives and to suffer from it again

So to sum it all up

This is a message to Students from my country :

Do not attempt to do 'Private' O levels and i feel bad for the others like me who have suffered the same fate

And this is a message to the rest of the world :

NEVER EVER EVEN THINK OF 'PRIVATE' EDUCATION, THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA AND SHOULD NOT BE PRACTICED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.....
